Fees

We believe in transparency when it comes to fees so that you can easily plan for your child’s healthcare. We are a privately billing clinic and do not offer bulk-billing appointments. Our goal is to provide the highest quality care for your child and family.
Payment Information
We do not accept cash. All payments must be made via credit card or EFTPOS, and full payment is expected on the day of the consultation. For Medicare rebates to be applied, your child must attend their appointment. Please be aware that if there is sensitive information you wish to discuss during the appointment, we recommend bringing a support person for your child to allow for private discussions with the doctor.
Fee Schedule
Our fees for paediatric appointments are outlined below. The Medicare rebate is processed on the same day of the appointment. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any additional information regarding fees or to discuss your specific needs.
Important notes
-
Medicare rebates: The Medicare rebate is processed on the day of the appointment, and you will be reimbursed directly by Medicare. We electronically transmit claims for Medicare benefits to Medicare Australia on your behalf. Your child must attend all scheduled appointments to be eligible for the Medicare rebate.
-
Out-of-pocket costs refer to the difference between the private fee and the Medicare rebate. Some Medicare item numbers can only be claimed once within a specific time period (e.g., Item 132 can be claimed once per 12 months). Please ensure you are aware of any limitations when making appointments.
-
Telehealth appointments: Fees apply to both in-person and telehealth consultations. Initial assessment must be conducted face to face. Please check with Dr Alyce and with the clinic for telehealth availability.
-
Private health insurance: Private health insurance does not cover consultations with GPs or paediatricians.
What to do if you or your child become unwell prior to the appointment
We understand that children can become unwell unexpectedly. If you or your child are feeling unwell prior to your scheduled appointment, we ask that you please contact us as soon as possible to discuss alternative options such as Telehealth. We ask that any child or parent showing symptoms of contagious illnesses (such as cold, flu, COVID-19, etc.) stay home and attend via Telehealth if possible. This helps us to ensure the health and safety of all our patients and staff.
Cancellation and non-attendance policy
If you are unable to attend your appointment, we kindly ask that you provide 2 business days notice to avoid incurring a cancellation fee. Cancellations made less than 2 business days prior will incur a cancellation fee, up to the full cost of the consultation.
Prescription Requests
Requests for repeat prescriptions outside of a scheduled appointment incur a fee of $50.00.
To ensure safe prescribing practices, repeat prescriptions can only be provided where the patient has been reviewed in person by one of our paediatricians within the preceding 6 months. Requests may be declined if a clinical review is required.
Where appropriate, families may be asked to schedule an appointment prior to any prescription being issued.
Missed Appointments and Cancellation Fees
Appointment times are reserved exclusively for your child. If you are unable to attend, please notify the practice as soon as possible so that the appointment can be offered to another family.
Failure to attend a scheduled appointment without sufficient notice will incur the full appointment fee.
Cancellation fees may be waived in circumstances where:
-
Adequate notice of cancellation has been provided; or
-
There are extenuating circumstances outside the family's control.
The decision to waive a cancellation fee remains at the discretion of the practice.
Payment Policy for Agency-Supported Patients
Albert Street Paediatrics welcomes referrals for children and young people supported by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), Anglicare and other government or community service agencies.
To ensure a consistent and sustainable billing process, all consultation fees are payable in full on the day of the appointment. This applies to all patients, including those receiving support from external agencies.
Albert Street Paediatrics is unable to provide split invoicing arrangements or defer payment pending reimbursement from an agency. The parent, caregiver, guardian or agency representative attending the appointment is responsible for ensuring payment is made at the conclusion of the consultation.
Where an agency has agreed to fund a consultation, families or agencies may seek reimbursement directly from the funding organisation following payment. An itemised receipt and tax invoice will be provided to support reimbursement claims where required.
If there are exceptional circumstances or questions regarding payment arrangements, please contact the practice prior to the appointment.
